How the calculator works
Choose a city snapshot or start with a blank custom plan. Update each monthly amount, choose a buffer, and the calculator adds the subtotal, buffer, annual total, and daily average. Nothing is sent to a business API.
For a fairer comparison, review each plan with the same housing standard, household size, insurance approach, and lifestyle assumptions. A lower estimate describes the inputs—not the quality, safety, legality, or suitability of a city.

Example monthly budget
A plan with 1,000 for housing, 100 for utilities, 300 for food, and 500 across transport, insurance, connectivity, coworking, leisure, and miscellaneous costs has a 1,900 subtotal. A 10% buffer adds 190, producing an estimated 2,090 monthly total.

Is this cost of living calculator using live prices?
No. City presets and exchange rates are dated static snapshots. Every amount is editable, and each preset shows its update date, assumptions, and sources.
What should I include in a monthly cost-of-living budget?
Start with housing, utilities, food, local transport, insurance, phone and internet, coworking, leisure, miscellaneous costs, and an emergency buffer. Add taxes, visa fees, flights, deposits, and debt separately when they apply.
Can I compare cities in different currencies?
Yes. Save two or three plans and choose USD, EUR, or MXN for comparison. Conversion uses the dated exchange-rate snapshot shown beside the table, not a live rate.
Where are my budget plans stored?
When Remember plans on this device is on, plans stay in this browser. Turning it off removes stored plans and keeps only the current tab session.
Can I export my budget without an account?
Yes. Save at least one plan, then export a UTF-8 CSV or use the browser print dialog. Both actions happen on your device.
